Adventures In Cosplaying

I Almost Cried

That’s right. I almost broke down in actual tears. Honest-to-goodness emotional tears. Here’s why:

I was sitting at the entrance to one of the halls behind the vendors eating (well, watching people eat; I refused to take my mask off). A gentleman approached me with a video camera and explained that his son, Tyler, has cancer, and that Tyler’s favorite superhero is Spiderman. This gentleman asked me to film a short video for Tyler. Which of course I did, because holy cow how much of an honor and a privilege is that? It was surreal and overwhelming and I teared up and felt soooo unworthy. There is nothing that could have prepared me for something huge like that. And Tyler, you are more of a superhero than I could ever hope to be.

In the end, my first ever adventure at Comicon was one that I will cherish for the rest of my life, and I absolutely cannot wait to do it all over again.

I’ll still be Spiderman.
